Adakah suami wajib sediakan rumah berasingan untuk setiap isteri?

Ya, setiap isteri berhak mendapat tempat tinggal sendiri yang layak; suami tidak boleh memaksa isteri-isteri tinggal sebumbung tanpa kerelaan mereka. Allah SWT berfirman: tempatkanlah mereka di tempat kamu tinggal mengikut kemampuan kamu (Surah at-Talaq 65:6). Para fuqaha menyatakan tempat tinggal (maskan) mesti mempunyai privasi dan kemudahan sendiri. Ia tidak semestinya rumah besar atau berasingan lot; unit berasingan dalam satu bangunan dengan pintu dan kemudahan sendiri sudah memadai jika sesuai dengan kemampuan suami dan uruf. Must a husband provide a separate home for each wife?

Yes, each wife is entitled to suitable housing of her own; the husband may not force the wives to live under one roof without their free consent.
Allah SWT says: house them where you live, according to your means (Surah at-Talaq 65:6). The jurists state that a dwelling (maskan) must have its own privacy and facilities. It need not be a large house or a separate plot; a separate unit in one building with its own door and facilities is enough if it suits the husband's means and custom.
