Q&A › Raising children (tarbiyah)

🧒 Raising children (tarbiyah) · #81

Should I tell my young child I love them and praise them out loud every day?

A young child needs to hear that they are loved, not just assume it; words of love build their heart. Say ‘Mummy loves you’ and praise their effort, not just the result, so that they learn to try without fear of failing. Allah teaches us to pray: “Our Lord, grant us from among our wives and our offspring a comfort to our eyes” (Surah al-Furqan 25:74); so treat your child as a blessing, not a burden. Honest, specific praise means more than empty general praise. Accompany your words with hugs and eye contact. See educating the family.
