Knowledge: understand the pillars of marriage, the rights of husband and wife, the fiqh of menstruation and the obligatory bath, the basics of talaq. Emotions: able to control anger, discuss and apologise. Health: HIV screening (required by the states), consider thalassaemia. Finances: income for maintenance, emergency savings, debts under control. Family: parents' blessing, the wali's consent. Administration: pre-marriage course certificate, identity documents.
