How do I know whether my unfaithful spouse's repentance is truly sincere?

Sincere repentance is seen in sustained actions, not just words of regret when caught. Signs include cutting off contact with the third party completely, being open about what happened without lying any more, and being willing to bear patiently with your pain without throwing it back at you. They should show transparency voluntarily and change the habits that led them astray. Give it time to assess, because real repentance stands up to testing day after day. Do not rush to believe or to reject; watch the pattern, not one or two days. A counsellor can help you both assess this sincerity more clearly. See counselling.
