🤍 Character & conduct between spouses · #379
I found my spouse exchanging affectionate messages online with someone who is not a mahram. How do I raise it?
Ongoing affectionate conversation with a non-mahram is a door to temptation (fitnah) that must be closed, even if nothing has happened physically. Calm yourself first so that your words do not turn into an accusation that sets off a quarrel. Choose a quiet time and show honestly what you are worried about. Say how it affects your heart, for example: ‘I feel distant when I see this.’ Listen to their explanation without judging straight away, but set a clear boundary that such a relationship is not healthy for a marriage. If it continues or you are at a loss, get help from a family counsellor. Protect your spouse's dignity by not exposing it to others. See communication & emotions.
