🤍 Character & conduct between spouses · #377

How can I show appreciation for my spouse's daily effort to earn a living?

Sincere appreciation eases the tiredness of the working spouse and nourishes the love between you both. Say thank you specifically, not generally, for example for their willingness to get up early every day for the family. The Prophet ﷺ said: “Whoever does not thank people has not thanked Allah” (Sunan Abu Dawud 4811). Welcome them home with a pleasant face, not a list of complaints. Manage the income they bring home prudently as a sign of respect for their effort. Pray for blessing in their provision. A spouse whose effort is appreciated feels home is a place of rest, not an extra burden. See rights of husband and wife.
