🕊️ Conflict & resolution · #203

My family tells me just to be patient. Is it wrong if I still want to get help?

Patience and getting help are not opposites; you can be patient while striving to improve the situation. True patience (sabar) is not letting a problem drag on without effort, but enduring calmly while looking for the right way out. Appreciate your family's good intentions, but decisions about your marriage rest with you and your spouse. Seeking counselling is part of the effort that is required of us, not a sign of too little patience or too little faith. If the situation involves danger, ‘just be patient’ is not safe advice. Make choices that protect the wellbeing of you and your family, and pray for guidance. See trials in a marriage.
