🕊️ Conflict & resolution · #133
We have no time to talk because the children are always around. When is the best time to resolve issues?
Issues that need discussing are best put off until the children cannot hear, not discussed in a rush in front of them. After the children are asleep is usually the calmest time, even if you are both tired. Avoid discussing heavy matters when the children can feel the tension or hear words that frighten them. If an urgent issue comes up in front of the children, put it off with an agreed signal: ‘We'll talk about this later.’ Keep your tone in check even while putting it off. Make a cup of something and sit without your phones to talk with full attention. Resolving issues out of the children's hearing protects them and gives you room to be honest.
