Q&A › Raising children (tarbiyah)

🧒 Raising children (tarbiyah) · #208

My son is growing up without a father. How do I make sure he has good male role models?

A boy can grow up well without a father at home, especially when there is a righteous man who serves as an example in his life. Bring him close to a grandfather, uncle, teacher or mosque figure of good character so that he learns the qualities of a responsible man. Do not burden him with being ‘the man of the house’ before his time; let him be a child first. Raise him with a balance of love and firmness, and teach values through your own example. Praise his efforts and teach him to respect women, starting with seeing how he treats you. Pray that he becomes a good man. See educating the family.
