How do I keep fair between the two homes when no one is watching?

True justice is tested when no one is watching, because then only your sense of responsibility to Allah keeps you from leaning to one side. It is easy to look fair in front of the family; what is hard is being honest in your heart and daily conduct. Remember that every night, every sen and every kindness is recorded with Allah even if no wife is counting. Let the awareness that Allah is watching be your guard, not fear of being rebuked by people. Pray often to be granted justice and an upright heart. Justice born of God-consciousness is firmer than justice done out of embarrassment before people. See fiqh of polygyny.
