⚖️ Polygyny: rulings & justice · #119

My wife complains that I am unfair. How should I take it?

Take your wife's complaint as a chance to improve yourself, not an attack to be fended off. Listen fully and ask for clear examples so that you understand the cause — time, maintenance, or attention. Do not rush to defend yourself or accuse her of mere jealousy. If her complaint is true, admit it and correct it promptly; if there is a misunderstanding, explain calmly. Allah commands that trusts be fulfilled, and “when ye judge between man and man, that ye judge with justice” (Surah an-Nisa' 4:58). If the disagreement drags on, a sulh officer at the Syariah Court can help assess it. See women's rights.
