Q&A › Preparation & choosing a spouse

🧭 Preparation & choosing a spouse · #67

I have not married yet because I am afraid of being betrayed like others have been. What should I do?

Fear from other people's stories should not close the door on the blessings Allah has prepared for you. No marriage is without risk, but that risk is managed by choosing a spouse of good faith and character, not by avoiding marriage altogether. Start by truly getting to know a prospective spouse: ask about their values in life and how they treat their family. Build communication and conflict-resolution skills before and after marriage. Trust in Allah after making the effort, because human hearts are in His hand. If the fear comes from an old wound, talking with a counsellor can help. Do not let the possibility of bad rob you of the possibility of good. See counselling.
