Q&A › Character & conduct between spouses

🤍 Character & conduct between spouses · #403

My parents are not Muslim and are now frail. Should I, as a convert (mualaf), care for them?

Caring for frail parents is a great good deed that is not cancelled by a difference of religion. Serve them patiently: manage their medicine, meals and comfort as a devoted child. Your kind treatment when they are weak often softens hearts more than any argument. Discuss with your siblings how to share responsibilities and costs so the burden does not fall on one person. Keep up your worship and halal food without making them a cause of quarrels in their home. Pray for good for them in your heart. See interfaith.
