Q&A › Divorce, ʿiddah & rujuk

🚪 Divorce, ʿiddah & rujuk · #75

I am raising my children alone and often feel guilty that I cannot give them everything. What should I do?

Children need one calm, loving parent far more than two parents who fight, or plenty of wealth. Excessive guilt only weakens you and adds nothing for your children. Focus on what truly matters: love, religious upbringing and your presence. Accept that you cannot be two people at once, and that is not failure. Ask family or the community for help without shame, and look after yourself too so you do not collapse. Allah does not burden a soul “beyond what it can bear” (Surah al-Baqarah 2:286). See single mothers.
