I have just remarried and had a new baby. Does my old will need updating?

Yes, review your will every time your family changes: marriage, birth, divorce or death. An old will may name a guardian for the children, an executor or beneficiaries who are no longer suitable. It may also not mention a house or assets you bought for your new family. Faraid will take the new wife and child into account automatically, but gifts (hibah), nominations and wills to non-heirs do not change on their own. As long as you are alive, a will can be changed or cancelled. Write a new will that states clearly that the old one is revoked, then inform whoever holds copies of the old one. Also check the nominees for your savings and takaful. See updating records after polygyny.
