Who is suitable to be the executor (wasi) of my will, especially in a large family?

Choose someone trustworthy, capable at managing affairs and able to be fair to all the heirs. The executor, or wasi, is responsible for gathering the assets, settling debts and making sure your wishes are carried out. Many appoint their spouse or eldest child, and that is allowed. But in a polygynous family or one that often quarrels, someone close to one side may be hard for the other side to accept. In that case, consider two joint executors, or a neutral trust company. Ask the person you choose first whether he is willing, because this task is heavy and time-consuming. Also explain where your important documents are kept. See managing an estate.
