Q&A › Divorce, ʿiddah & rujuk

🚪 Divorce, ʿiddah & rujuk · #72

We are divorced but I still have feelings for him. How do I part well without torment?

Still loving someone you have parted from is human, and it needs to be handled honestly, not bottled up or forced to vanish overnight. Give yourself time and space to grieve that loss, just as you would grieve any loss. If the talaq is still revocable (raj'i) and both of you truly want to come back together, reconciliation (rujuk) within the waiting period (iddah) is permitted; ask the religious affairs office how. But if that door is already closed or rujuk is not wise, avoid contact that confuses the heart. Fill your time with worship, family and things that heal. Time and prayer soften this wound. See talaq.
