📜 Akad nikah · #82

My father wants to marry me off himself but is very nervous. How can I help him get ready?

Practice, a short form of words and a calm marriage officiant are usually enough to help a father pronounce the offer (ijab) with confidence. Ask the officiant to write down the wording of the offer that will be used and give it to your father a few days early. Let him practise at home with you or your older brother. On the day, if the officiant allows it, your father can hold the paper with the wording. Reduce the pressure by limiting the number of people in the front row and asking guests not to film too close. Remind your father that if he makes a mistake, the contract can simply be repeated calmly. See a valid ijab and qabul.
