🏡 Rights & responsibilities · #173

I am a husband with no intention of practising polygyny. How can I reassure my wife, who often worries?

Reassurance comes from consistent actions, not from repeated vows. A worried wife usually does not doubt your words, but she needs to feel secure every day. Give her your full attention, spend time together, and make her feel she is enough for you. Avoid jokes about ‘marrying again’ that you think are funny; to her they hurt. If she mentions her worries, listen without defending yourself or mocking her, then reassure her gently. Tell her about your life plans as a couple so she can see herself in your future. Feeling loved every day is more calming than a promise made once. See rights of husband and wife.
