🕌 Worship in the home · #150
Can we perform the eclipse prayer together as a family at home?
Yes; the eclipse prayer is sunnah, and it is valid performed in congregation at home or individually. This prayer is two rak'ahs, and each rak'ah contains two standings and two bowings (ruku'). If you are not familiar with it, learn the method a few days before the eclipse, as the date is usually announced in advance. Make the event a lesson for the children: take them to look at the sky in a way that does not harm their eyes, then explain that the sun and moon submit to Allah's decree. After the prayer, increase dhikr, supplication and charity together. If a nearby mosque holds the eclipse prayer, joining it with the family is also a valuable experience. See prayer guide.
