Q&A › Preparation & choosing a spouse

🧭 Preparation & choosing a spouse · #143

My own prayer is still not regular. Am I fit to marry and lead a family?

This shortcoming does not stop you from marrying, but it needs fixing now, because prayer is the foundation of the household you will build. Be honest with yourself about which prayers you miss most often, for example Subuh, or Asar at work. Set reminders, pray early in the prayer time, and find friends or a mosque that help you stay consistent. Do not wait to be perfect before marrying; show continuous effort. Your future spouse has the right to know you are trying, and later the two of you can strengthen each other. Allah says: “Enjoin prayer on thy people, and be constant therein” (Surah Taha 20:132). That command begins with yourself. See prayer guide.
