I feel guilty claiming my share of the estate because I am afraid of being seen as greedy. Am I wrong?
Claiming a right fixed by Islamic law is not greed; what is wrong is taking someone else's right. Many people, especially daughters and widows, choose to stay silent out of embarrassment or fear of harming family relationships. Yet faraid was revealed to protect those who are easily pushed aside. Allah says: “Allah doth command you to render back your Trusts to those to whom they are due” (Surah an-Nisa' 4:58). You can claim it politely. For example, say: ‘I don't want to quarrel, I just want our late father's affairs settled according to the law.’ Once you receive your share, you are free to keep it or give part of it to anyone you wish. See managing an estate.
