I want to hand my share of the estate to my mother. What is the proper way?

Your intention is noble; the way is to receive the share lawfully first, then give it to your mother as a clear gift (hibah). You can also state your consent during the division process so your share is transferred directly to your mother, if the estate officer allows that method. Whatever the method, record it in writing and sign it in front of witnesses. Think too about your own family's needs. If you are married, discuss it with your spouse first, even though the share is your right. Then present it to your mother with kind words, for example: ‘You deserve to enjoy it more, Mak,’ so she does not feel she is a burden. See maintenance of parents.
