Should I keep up family ties with my non-Muslim relatives?

Keeping up ties with relatives is a religious requirement, and it is not limited to relatives of the same faith. Allah reminds us to reverence “the wombs (that bore you)” (Surah an-Nisa' 4:1), so keep visiting, contacting and helping your non-Muslim relatives. This is not a sign that you take your religion lightly; rather it shows its beauty. Keep the limits in matters of worship and food, but do not cut ties because of differences in belief. Be there for them in hard times such as illness or a death in the family. Well-kept ties open many doors of good. See in-laws.
