Q&A › Raising children (tarbiyah)

🧒 Raising children (tarbiyah) · #214

We live in a non-Muslim country. How do we raise children with strong faith?

A child's faith abroad is safeguarded by making the home the centre of religious upbringing, not leaving it to the surroundings. Allah commands: “Protect yourselves and your families from the Fire” (Surah at-Tahrim 66:6). Teach the basics of belief (akidah), prayer and character from an early age with love, not compulsion. Connect your children with the local community and religious classes so that they do not feel alone as Muslims. Explain the reasons behind practices so that they are convinced, not just following. Be the example they see every day. See Muslim minority families.
