🕊️ Conflict & resolution · #115

When is a good time to raise a sensitive issue with my spouse?

A heavy issue raised at the wrong time almost certainly ends badly, even if your intentions are good. Avoid raising it when your spouse is hungry, very tired, just back from work, or about to sleep. Also avoid it in the middle of the rush of looking after the children. Choose a time when you are both calm and not in a hurry, and ask first: ‘Do you have time for us to talk about something?’ If not, set a time together. A full stomach and a rested mind are far more ready to listen. The right timing is half the solution. See communication & emotions.
