Family abroad cannot attend. Can they witness our marriage contract via live stream?

They can watch, but they do not count as marriage witnesses; valid witnesses must be present at the contract ceremony. The presence of two male witnesses who meet the conditions is a pillar of marriage, and they must hear and understand the offer and acceptance directly. A live stream is simply a way for family far away to share the joy. Arrange the witnesses with the religious office or the marriage officiant before the day of the contract. Appoint one family member specifically to handle the stream so it does not disrupt the ceremony. After the contract, give the family there a chance to congratulate and pray for the couple.
