Q&A › Worship in the home

🕌 Worship in the home · #139

When we pray in congregation at home, where should the wife, sons and daughters stand?

Male followers stand behind the imam, or on his right if there is only one, while female followers stand in the row behind. For example, if a husband leads his wife alone, she stands behind him, not beside him. If there is one son, he stands on his father's right, slightly back, and the wife and daughters stand behind them. When there are more sons, they form their own row behind the imam. A small house is no problem; arrange yourselves in good order as the space allows. Explain the reason for this arrangement to the children so that they understand, not merely obey. See congregational prayer guide.
