One wife goes back to her hometown for weeks. Are her rota days lost or do they need to be made up?
When a wife travels for her own purposes, her rota days while she is away generally do not need to be made up. The rota is a right fulfilled when both parties are present; if the wife herself chooses to go, she is regarded as giving up those days for the time being. But avoid using her absence as an excuse to neglect her in maintenance (nafkah) and in the relationship. When she returns, continue the cycle as usual. If she went for a need you yourself agreed to or asked for, making up some of the days is praiseworthy conduct even though it is not obligatory. For complicated cases, refer to the religious office. See rotation.
