🏡 Rights & responsibilities · #204

Could my jealousy actually be a sign that we spend too little time together, rather than a sign my spouse is guilty?

Jealousy is often the signal of a heart thirsty for attention, not proof that your spouse has done wrong. When the relationship feels distant, the mind easily fills the gap with suspicion. Instead of investigating your spouse, ask yourself how long it has been since you spent time together. Suggest something positive: ‘I miss our time together, can we make some time this week?’ Refill the relationship with attention and affection, because a heart full of love is less jealous. If there is a real issue behind the feeling, then discuss it separately. Sometimes the cure for jealousy is closeness, not surveillance. See communication & emotions.
