What if, after trying hard, trust still cannot be rebuilt?

Sometimes, even when both sides try, trust does not recover, and admitting that reality is not a failure of faith. Assess honestly whether the effort has truly been two-way or whether you have been carrying it alone. If your spouse does not change or repeats the wrong, protecting yourself and your children is the responsible course. If separation becomes the choice, Islam teaches that it should be done with kindness, not with revenge. Refer to a sulh officer or the Syariah Court for binding matters, and a counsellor to help you and the children find calm. The decision to stop trying after giving a fair chance is legitimate, not a sin. See trials in a marriage.
