🕌 Worship in the home · #135

I live with a non-Muslim family. How do I keep up my prayers without causing tension?

Your prayer is a right that must be protected, and it can usually be performed calmly without causing quarrels. Find a clean and fairly quiet corner to pray in, and keep a prayer mat and easy clothing ready. If your family asks, explain briefly that you pray five times a day and that it does not disturb anyone. Arrange the timing so that it does not clash with family events when possible, without missing the prayer. Over time, most families accept your routine when they see it done calmly and respectfully. Pray that their hearts are softened. See du'a & prayer.
