Q&A › Worship in the home

🕌 Worship in the home · #95

Is a short midday nap (qailulah) a sunnah, and how can the family practise it?

Qailulah, a short rest at midday, is an encouraged practice that helps bring the night to life with worship. It need not be long; closing your eyes for a while after midday is enough. Encourage the children to rest briefly so they are not too tired in the afternoon. Make the home calmer at that time by reducing noise and screens. Enough rest makes you more patient and warm with the family, not short-tempered from tiredness. Intend the rest as a way to strengthen worship and service to the family, so that even sleep is rewarded. See everyday adab.
