🧒 Raising children (tarbiyah) · #162
How do I introduce the children from two homes to each other without creating tension?
Introduce them gradually through enjoyable activities, not through stiff formal meetings. A successful first meeting is usually short and centred on something shared, such as eating together, playing in the park or watching something everyone likes. Avoid comparing the children in looks, achievements or treatment, because comparison plants jealousy from the start. Let them call each other by whatever names feel comfortable. Increase how often and how long they meet little by little as they grow closer. The parents' role is to create a safe atmosphere, not to force closeness. Start with one short meeting this month. Further guidance is at children in polygyny.
