🧭 Preparation & choosing a spouse · #96
Can the bride be made up by a male bridal make-up artist (mak andam)?
It is not appropriate; a non-mahram man may not touch the woman or see her aurat, including while doing her make-up. Make-up involves touching the face, hair and neck, and being in a closed space for a long time. All of this crosses the limits of interaction between the sexes. Choose a female make-up artist who understands the needs of a bride who wears the tudung. When booking, ask directly: ‘Who will do the make-up and style the tudung on the day?’ Some companies send male assistants even though the founder is a woman. State your conditions in writing in the agreement so there are no surprises on the morning of the wedding. See limits of aurat.
