Q&A › Rights & responsibilities

🏡 Rights & responsibilities · #354

I am so exhausted from managing work and family at the same time that I feel close to collapsing. What can I do?

Extreme exhaustion is a signal that your body and soul need help, not a sign that you are weak or have failed. Stop for a moment and assess what can be reduced, postponed or handed to someone else. Ask your husband and family for help specifically, rather than hoping they will guess your needs. Look after your sleep, meals and rest, because you cannot pour from an empty vessel. Set aside a little time for calm and for worship that soothes the heart. If the exhaustion comes with prolonged hopelessness or low mood, see a doctor. Asking for help is a sign of wisdom, not defeat. See mental health.
