Q&A › Worship in the home

🕌 Worship in the home · #123

Is it enough for me to pray and perform solat istikharah, or should I also see a counsellor?

Supplication and effort go hand in hand in Islam; asking for Allah's help does not remove the need to make an effort with human help. Istikharah and supplication calm the heart and ask for guidance, while a counsellor gives skills and a practical perspective. Neglecting either one means leaving part of the path Allah has provided. Islam teaches us to make an effort and trust in Allah, not to trust Him while doing nothing. Keep up prayer, dhikr and supplication asking for your affairs to be made easy, while taking real steps to get help. Allah often sends help through means and the people around us. Combine both with confidence. See du'a & prayer.
