What is the best way for a husband to tell his wife he wants to take another wife?

Openly, early, face to face and with full respect — do not let your wife find out from others. Choose a calm time, state the real reasons without blaming your wife, and listen to her feelings without interrupting. Explain concrete plans: finances, the rotation of nights, housing and the assurance that her rights will not be affected. Give her time to think; do not press for an immediate answer. Avoid comparing your wife with the prospective wife. Allah commands us to speak words that are true and right. If the conversation reaches deadlock, consider counselling together.
