🤍 Character & conduct between spouses · #356

How can husband and wife cultivate gratitude as a shared daily practice?

Gratitude grows when it is practised deliberately, not when we wait for it to come by itself. Make a habit of naming one blessing you are both thankful for each night, big or small. Thank each other for your efforts, because the Prophet ﷺ said: “Whoever does not thank people has not thanked Allah” (Sunan Abu Dawud 4811). Avoid starting conversations with complaints about what you lack. Make a prostration of thanks (sujud syukur) when you receive a blessing, and let the children see it. A heart that often gives thanks feels its marriage is richer than its list of possessions. See everyday adab.
