For the Federal Territories, within six months (Act 303 s.31); other states have equivalent provisions in their own enactments, so the exact period should be confirmed with your state Islamic religious affairs office. Muslims resident in Malaysia who marry abroad must register the marriage in the state where they reside. Registration can be done at the Islamic Religious Affairs Office/Registrar of Marriages, or at the Malaysian embassy/consulate in the country concerned.
