🏛️ Polygyny: the law · #125
I have a chronic illness. Is my health taken into account in a polygyny application?
Your health is closely tied to your ability to provide and to be fair, so be prepared to answer about it honestly. The court assesses whether you can carry the extra responsibility on an ongoing basis. A chronic illness does not necessarily stand in the way, but it raises fair questions: is your income stable, who cares for you when you are ill, and how will the rota be arranged if you are admitted to hospital? Discuss the long-term effects of your illness with your doctor. Then reassess this plan with your wife. Sometimes, the most honest love is admitting one's own limits. See the rota when the husband is ill.
