🌍 Children, inheritance & global · #98

Our divorce case is not yet settled. Who looks after the children while we wait for the decision?

Ideally the two of you agree on a temporary arrangement; if you cannot, apply for an interim custody (hadhanah) order at the Syariah Court. Divorce proceedings sometimes take time, and children need stability throughout that period. Discuss who the children will live with, the other parent's visiting schedule, and school matters and interim maintenance (nafkah). Write the agreement down, even briefly. If you have serious concerns about the children's welfare, put them to the court with evidence. Do not suddenly take the children out of the home or hide them from the other parent, as this can harm your position later. Read more on the syariah Court procedure page.
