🤍 Character & conduct between spouses · #195
We often go to sleep sulking at each other. Does that harm the marriage?
Letting a sulk carry on into bed digs a gap that grows deeper day by day. A sulk taken to bed night after night easily hardens into lasting coldness. Make a rule together: before sleeping, touch or say one kind word even if the issue is not settled, for example ‘Let's carry on tomorrow, okay? I still love you.’ This does not mean giving in on the issue, only refusing to let hostility stay the night. If the issue is big, set a time the next day to discuss it calmly. A heart that sleeps at peace makes up more easily. See communication & emotions.
