Should a husband draw lots to choose which wife comes with him when travelling?

The fairest way to choose which wife comes on a journey is by drawing lots, not choosing by what the heart inclines to. Drawing lots among the wives before travelling is a sunnah that protects everyone's feelings and rules out accusations of favouritism. Whoever's name comes out is the one who accompanies that journey. The days of travel with that wife generally do not need to be made up to the others. If you want to do more good than is required by making up some of the days, that is up to you. Intend justice for Allah's sake, not favouritism. For particular situations or disputes, refer to the religious office or the Syariah Court. See rotation.
