Should I keep a record of my assets and accounts so my heirs can handle them easily later?

Recording your assets, accounts and liabilities is a kindness that makes things easier for your heirs while they are grieving. Many families struggle to find account details, takaful policies or debts they did not know about. Prepare an up-to-date list: assets, savings, nominees, debts and the location of important documents. Tell your spouse or one trusted heir that it exists and where it is, without needing to reveal every detail if you are not comfortable. Update the list regularly. This is different from the faraid (Islamic inheritance) division, which still follows the rules fixed by Islamic law; refer to the religious affairs office or Amanah Raya for the official process.
