🕌 Worship in the home · #169
We are not going to the Holy Land this year. How do we bring the first ten days of Zulhijjah to life as a family?
The first ten days of Zulhijjah are a season of worship for everyone, not only for pilgrims. Choose a few practices suited to the children's ages. Increase the takbir, tahmid and tahlil at home, and let the children lead the takbir after prayers. Encourage voluntary fasting in the early days, especially the fast of the Day of Arafah for those not on hajj, and train older children to try it. If your family is doing the qurban, involve the children in the preparation and distribution of the meat. Tell the story of the Prophet Ibrahim (peace be upon him) and his family at dinner, so they understand the origins of hajj and the qurban. Pray together for the pilgrims on the day of wukuf too. See educating the family.
