🤍 Character & conduct between spouses · #335

How do I get myself and my children into the habit of saying bismillah before starting something?

Saying bismillah before eating, leaving the house, getting into a vehicle or starting work makes ordinary affairs blessed and remembered as acts of worship. The best way to teach children is to say it aloud yourself every time, so they hear and copy it. Remind them gently when they forget, not by scolding. Link bismillah to a sense of relying on Allah in everything. Start with one fixed situation, such as before meals, before extending it to other things. Over time the tongue and heart grow used to mentioning Allah's name throughout the day. See everyday adab.
