Q&A › Character & conduct between spouses

🤍 Character & conduct between spouses · #264

How do we become 'us' without each of us losing our own identity?

Being a team does not mean one of you loses their identity; a healthy marriage gives room for togetherness and for oneself. Share goals and life together, but keep healthy personal interests, friends and private worship. Respect your spouse's need for their own space without taking it as rejection. Avoid merging so completely that you lose the identity that made you attractive in the first place. Two whole individuals build a stronger relationship than two who have lost themselves. Balance ‘us’ and ‘me’ wisely. See communication & emotions.
