⚖️ Polygyny: rulings & justice · #138
Our married son plans to marry secretly across the border. What should we advise him?
Advise him firmly but lovingly not to go ahead, because a secret marriage almost always hurts more people. Invite him to sit and talk without anger. Ask what is driving him: problems at home, feelings for another woman, or fear of the court process. Explain the risks calmly: legal action, a marriage that is hard to register, a second wife and children left unprotected, and your daughter-in-law betrayed. If he truly wants polygyny, encourage him to be honest with his wife and apply lawfully. Do not agree to keep it secret from your daughter-in-law. See secret polygyny.
