🧒 Raising children (tarbiyah) · #107

How do I teach my child about body safety and touching boundaries without frightening him?

Teach your child that his body belongs to him and is a trust, and that there are parts others may not touch or see. Use calm, age-appropriate language: no one may touch the parts covered by underwear, and he has the right to say ‘no’ and to tell you. Assure him that he will not be scolded for telling, even if someone asks him to keep it secret. Teach him to come to you about anything that makes him uncomfortable. If your child tells you something worrying or you suspect he is being abused, get help immediately: call the police on 999 and Talian Kasih on 15999. Listen to your child seriously and do not blame him. See mental health.
